Lost and Stuff.

Dude. I haven’t posted on here in AGES. Right?

Sorry about that. I’ve been caught up in a lot of things – revision, exams, university stuff. …Ebay.

And Lost. Can’t forget Lost.  I’m already wishing away my week off, just to get Episode 4. Srsly. Flashsideways is a terrible idea, if they do what I think they’re going to do and pull a “And the alternate reality becomes reality” bit…which let’s face it, if they’re running with that ending, they might as well make Jack wake up  and call it a dream. (Dallas, anyone?)

That aside, I’m eager to find out what happens in the next episode. I’m grateful that they juxtaposed a Locke episode after a torturous hour with Kate, though. God, I hate her character.

Anyhow. Not a lot going on at the moment. More revision to do…a biology EMPA to think about; and J.S. Mill’s “On Liberty” to read over. Knowing me, I’ll procrastinate and pick up where I left off with Sartre.

Or the less productive (for education purposes) plan. The novel.

Oh sure, I’ve done about 50 different drafts now…and none of them are quite what I’m looking for…but at least I learn an awful lot with every draft. I can now honestly say that I have my main character’s personality perfected – to the point where, if I were a 36-year old Cuban man, I might be able to pull off a convincing Rico and seriously creep people out at my overly vague nature. As for the plot…that’s under the knife at the moment. I’m trying out a few things, and it’s going quite well. Once I realised that sky pirates weren’t really compatable with a terraformed world of bizarre ordeals, I think things started to work a little better.

In the spirit of talking about writing…I’m going to go and do just that. <3 Adios.

Writers…

It’s a little irritating, being such a perfectionist with things, sometimes. :|

I suppose it’s normally a good thing…but when you’re sitting at your computer, tapping away at your keys on draft #32, you start to wonder if there’s such a thing as being too perfectionistic. And I guess there is.

But on the plus side…I’m on chapter 4. :| Which is nowhere, I know…but it’s better than nothing, right? And hey. I finally had the chance to bring in one of the first characters I ever created. My psychopath…Who, I’ve not been able to pinpoint a personality for for a year now…but I’m getting somewhere with it this time.

I’m going to take down the manuscript copy of my first novel from lulu, because…It’s not the first one anymore, it’s full of inconsistancies; and it’s pointless keeping up something so full of errors. Not that it’s going to be scrapped in any sense. I’ve just changed a few things about Ver’na (their planet) now. Like the introduction of Rico’s NET system, the whole structure of politics, the location of certain countries; and the system of currency. Which are all pretty important features to get wrong.

I don’t want to mislead people with a story that’ll end up cut-off. You’ll get to read this one later, when I finish the first insert novel; and then edit that one. So it’s not a total loss. <3

Novel First Print! <3

Buy Now?

First print! <3 Just letting anyone/everyone know. It’s £12.99 without shipping…but with shipping, adds up to about £17 I believe. :| I’d have made it cheaper…but it’s 297 pages, and it’s a lot to print on there, as a base price. Shipping’s rather extreme too, sadly. D: I’m not entirely sure if one can actually buy on there without an account…

Might look into that myself.

Mmn. Can anyone read Japanese? D:

Argh! Damn. Of all the languages I’ve picked to learn, I chose Russian.

Seems like just recently, everything I try to buy winds up on some obscure, unreadable, hiragana/katakana website. True, I suppose I don’t really need a tailcoat…but it’d be nice, wouldn’t it? Hell, I’m not even sure why I want one…or why I also seem to be chasing after clothes stylised in the 1800s look. I guess I’m just fed up with the whole mainstream ‘dress like a carbon copy of everyone else’ theme. ‘Tis not really my desire to dress modern. I’ve never really been fond of well, anything in the 90s-00s. And seriously. Who wouldn’t want to own a corset? They’re pure awesomeness.

Annnyhow. Random blog post. Yar. Tail coat search is failing miserably, leading me to obscure foreign websites…likewise with the steampunk quests. And in addition, I seem to be falling short of ways to get my Deviant-watchers to pay even the slightest bit of attention. True, they’re not all backing out on me…but…It feels more and more lately, as though people are passing over me and disregarding everything I say. It’s doubtful that I’ll sell anything this time around either. I think a reduction of dignity might be in order…I might have to appeal to the target audience (which, I assure you, was NOT intended) to sell my Death Note stuff, at least. It’s eating space in my cupboards upstairs. Space I need for original sketches. Well…I either turn “Kawaiidesune” on the anime-esque, or I turn to commissioning…and the latter gives me serious migraines.

Hm. I’m drawing to a close with my constant sketching. College tomorrow…perhaps I’ll get one or two more done for my deadline of the end of the month. (Yes, I’m talking illustrations here.) I have a whole 29 to do – one for each chapter in the first novel. I must be on…17? 17, I think. So I’ve done 18 of them, approximately. Which leaves me with another 11 – another 2 or three ‘Parts’ to complete. As I said in my DA journal, it’s looking to be somewhere between 300 to 400 pages after all this…so temporarily self-published, it’ll be about £15/book. It’s only a beta copy. If I get positive feedback, I might consider throwing away the £1000 and getting a publishing deal…with the help of crazed saving and a couple of temporary loans within the family. But I’ll have to wait and see. Thinking about thowing my e-mail in there, for the sake of it, so people can leave me comments if they so please. But then…it’s doubtful that I wont really know where they’re from. I doubt anyone will buy it, if they’re not aware of me first.

-facepalm- Here’s hoping. Maybe I’ll get lucky and be able to pay for a translator. XD (LOL ASIF.)

Wow. Fairly long rant. Didn’t even get to mention the frustrating week I’ve had. But then, you’re not into that, are you? I’ll leave you with a few sketches and ideas for the novel print-out that I’ve shown to Ava and Rosie. Then it’s back to finishing the commentary on my Pro-Solipsism rant.
