Dude. I haven’t posted on here in AGES. Right?
Sorry about that. I’ve been caught up in a lot of things – revision, exams, university stuff. …Ebay.
And Lost. Can’t forget Lost. I’m already wishing away my week off, just to get Episode 4. Srsly. Flashsideways is a terrible idea, if they do what I think they’re going to do and pull a “And the alternate reality becomes reality” bit…which let’s face it, if they’re running with that ending, they might as well make Jack wake up and call it a dream. (Dallas, anyone?)
That aside, I’m eager to find out what happens in the next episode. I’m grateful that they juxtaposed a Locke episode after a torturous hour with Kate, though. God, I hate her character.
Anyhow. Not a lot going on at the moment. More revision to do…a biology EMPA to think about; and J.S. Mill’s “On Liberty” to read over. Knowing me, I’ll procrastinate and pick up where I left off with Sartre.
Or the less productive (for education purposes) plan. The novel.
Oh sure, I’ve done about 50 different drafts now…and none of them are quite what I’m looking for…but at least I learn an awful lot with every draft. I can now honestly say that I have my main character’s personality perfected – to the point where, if I were a 36-year old Cuban man, I might be able to pull off a convincing Rico and seriously creep people out at my overly vague nature. As for the plot…that’s under the knife at the moment. I’m trying out a few things, and it’s going quite well. Once I realised that sky pirates weren’t really compatable with a terraformed world of bizarre ordeals, I think things started to work a little better.
In the spirit of talking about writing…I’m going to go and do just that. <3 Adios.
Sooo. Another blog post? Not a great deal to say, I guess. I bought some more prismalo watercolour pencils today. Shame they don’t do regular pencils; by the looks of things…although, the Caran d’ Ache Pablo pencils are pretty good too…and it seems as though watercolour pencils blend MUCH better than regular ones. With the exception of ergosoft Staedtlers, which’ll always be some of my favourites. But yeah, overall; things are looking good with these. So good, in fact, that I might finally have found a means with which to colour my sketches of Rico. He’s been a nightmare from day one. I guess it’s all about character design. Eleven’s always been a good cross-over between copic and pencil; because she’s both in my style, but also works in a more anime/manga setting (copic art). But Rico? He’s just anti-cartoony style. Just wont have it D: So I’m trying my hand at colouring with pencils again, like old times…’cause using ink on a sketch of him only works in black and white, I’m afraid.
(Also…LOL. I wonder how many other people have walked into the art store, bought prismalos and then proceeded to say, “LOL. They look just like prismacolors…why can’t they sell the proper thing?” Srsly. Does nobody know about good American-made art tools? Most things to leave that country…fail. But not art supplies! Nao! They’re genius.)
And on the subject of V, I’ve also considered doing a few sketches…like, age progression-y things. I saw a few internet memes on DA with this sort of thing…where they draw a character at different stages in their life. I was doodling the other day and came up with:

in my infinite boredom. As you can tell, drawing children is NOT my forté, but I’m learning. It’d be nice in the future to be able to sketch all of my characters at different ages. I guess V’s just more…interesting, in that respect, because of how long ago his childhood really was D: Common logic might assume he’d never even had one. >: But that’s not the case. Still sort of in decision-limbo with his actual age. I’m thinking 33-36, someone else said 30; another 24-28; and he’s pretending to be 45…so…this is a pretty large range right there. 24-45.
I’d like to use a mean value; but…I don’t have enough suggestions. Maybe it’s time for S to make use of her new DA sub?
(I still have no idea who donated that to me. But I LOVE them. I’m so happy : D I don’t have to lose my Beta testing skillz.)
1 wasn’t intentional. But I left it, for drama.
Skye has a tablet now! I trekked to PC World at the weekend and picked up a Bamboo Wacom for £65. For some reason, the wacom tablets in schools never really seem responsive…but mine is AWESOME. I’ve been painting all week…but I’ve only come up with:

As you can see, the background is just there so it looks okay when I submit to DA (hence, DA green), it’s still very smudgy; and I haven’t uploaded the full-scale image yet. I probably wont work on it again for a little while, but it’s good to know that I can still paint realism, even with a new tool.
It’s pretty much decided now, what I’m doing for my new site layout. I haven’t done any proper sketches, but I know where I’m going with it. The gallery will be a white box, red text on black; whilst the blog is the reverse. Rico’s going to be my little mascot (the current character I just -cant- stop drawing), mostly because out of all of them; he’s both my favourite to draw/my favourite in general; and he relates to me more than any of them. (Minus the eternal life thing…but, well, we have the same opinions on that. It’s not worth the trouble. And he’s not me, as such. But it’s the minor things that I give my OCs, really.) Oh, and following this theme; my novel site (still can’t think of a domain for it) will be red b/g, white/black text and front. Not sure which way around. I’ll see which I like more from the blog/gallery look.
So I’ll probably get to work on something at the weekend…at which point; when I do my site update; I’ll upload the tonnes of stuff I’ve not been putting up on here, clean up; and sort things out by character. It makes sense to just shove all the old stuff in singular folders; but with the amount of OC art I have now, it’s rather silly…so I’m going to go ahead and sort it in the same format as my DA gallery. Trust me. It looks a LOT better.
